Alternative Media Players for Windows 10 Rather than using a 10+ year old media player, there are better, more modern alternatives to Windows Media Player available for Windows users. Plenty of free media players for Windows exist, but the best option for most users is likely to be VLC. Mar 31, 2016 Windows 10 N and Windows 10 KN editions include the same functionality as Windows 10, except that these versions of Windows do not include Windows Media Player, and related technologies. End-user customers can enable the media functionality to work properly by installing the Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 10 (KB3010081).

Bricscad pro. If Windows Media Player stopped working correctly after the latest updates from Windows Update, you can verify that the updates are the problem by using System Restore. To do this:
Select the Start button, and then type system restore.
Select Create a restore point, and then in the System Properties pane, select System Restore.
Follow the prompts to select the restore point just before the round of updates that seemed to trigger the problem. Then run the system restore process. (This takes a while.)
After your system is restored to the earlier configuration, check to see whether Windows Media Player runs correctly again.

If you want to reinstall Windows Media Player, try the following:
Click the Start button, type features, and select Turn Windows features on or off.
Scroll down and expand Media Features, clear the Windows Media Player check box, and click OK.
Restart your device. Windows Media Player should be uninstalled.
Repeat step 1.
Scroll down and expand Media Features, select the Windows Media Player check box, and click OK.
Restart your device. Windows Media player should now be reinstalled.
